Attorney guide

Keep research and review tied to the right Matter.

A Matter is the working context for authorized documents, evidence, research references, human review, decisions and audit. Controls shown in your account depend on your role and enabled services.

Register and verify your profile

Choose the Attorney role on the registration page and complete the attorney profile with genuine credential evidence. An attorney login does not by itself mean your profile has been reviewed, verified or publicly listed. An administrator must review the evidence and jurisdiction before approval.

Working sequence

Select an authorized Matter and jurisdiction. Confirm you have access before adding material; a title alone does not establish a client relationship or source authority.
Upload the source document if enabled. Wait for scanning and processing. Do not rely on a pending, rejected or quarantined file. Check the version and source locator.
Inspect screening and Clause DNA. Deterministic review and connected Clause DNA/dispute-prevention outputs are suggestions, not authored findings. Confirm passage, digest, document version and provider availability.
Research a case if the provider is enabled. Search by country and provider, read the metadata in Legicus, and open the original provider record. Check whether it is current, applicable and still good law.
Save a selected case reference to the same Matter. Add context and optional tags. Saving creates an unverified reference, not an approval. Record your human review with a reason; an accepted reference is your assessment, not Legicus verification.
Author and review the decision. Keep authored observations, risks, evidence plans and conclusions separate from unreviewed AI output. Approve only after checking source material.
Use LexDraft only when configured and authorized. Confirm the selected Matter, model, output, and audit trail before sharing a draft. A queued handoff is not a completed document.

Fail closed: If a scanner, storage key, provider, source, role or Matter permission is unavailable, stop and resolve the cause. Do not bypass a gate using public-search snippets, another person's session or copied judgment text.

Jurisdiction and source limits

The research UI retains India, US, UK, Australia and Canada. The currently investigated AustLII and CanLII adapters have no verified machine-search path. A2AJ is a separate Canadian adapter with independent authorization and original-link requirements. See research and coverage. No case-law search provider is assumed active merely because its name appears in the selector.

Audit and confidentiality

Use least-privilege sharing, verify the intended client and Matter before saving, and review the visible history when making a decision. Do not place privileged document contents into a support request or public link. Retain and export records according to your organization's policies and legal duties; this guide does not define those duties.
